truck_tires
  • Challenge: At the request of a large tire manufacturer, Cardno ChemRisk scientists performed a third-party review of the company’s chemical risk management approach to determine if it reflects the attributes of a successful industrial hygiene program.
  • Approach: Program elements were designed and evaluated in accordance with the “Plan-Do-Check-Act” model outlined in the global OHSAS 18001 standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.  Program strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for continual improvement were provided. In addition, the implementation of this program was assessed on a global scale by conducting audits at diverse international facilities to gauge the understanding and stage of implementation at the local level.
  • Findings: The company’s chemical risk management program was found to be comprehensive and appropriate.  Opportunities for improvement were identified primarily in the area of exposure assessment.
  • Value: The program evaluation provided the management team with an external expert review of their program, including an opinion of how it compared to those implemented at other companies of similar size and type.
