Formaldehyde and Other VOCs in Mobile Homes
Mobile homes are constructed of pressed particle board and other materials which have been known to off-gas formaldehyde. Cardno ChemRisk was asked to evaluate reported health effects, including asthma, cancer, immune system, and respiratory system disorders associated with presence of various concentrations of formaldehyde in mobile homes. In addition, a travel trailer was sampled for formaldehyde and other Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and the results were compared to available regulatory and occupational standards to determine if the compounds detected in ambient air constituted a potential risk to human health.
