Beryllium Exposure Management Program DevelopmentiStock_000010061089XSmall

Cardno ChemRisk scientists designed a comprehensive program for characterizing the hazards posed by airborne and dermal contact with beryllium in the workplace.  Staff was involved in numerous research efforts to understand the usefulness of beryllium blood lymphocyte proliferation test monitoring, importance of particle size and chemical form in determining the hazard, relationship between disease and the other routes of exposure to beryllium, and importance of establishing different dose-metrics.  Staff worked with the client and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) to arrange an international symposium on beryllium, held in September 1999 in Washington, DC.
