Welcome G. Scott Dotson, PhD, MS, CIH

Dotson Scott resizedCardno ChemRisk is pleased to welcome a new Managing Health Scientist to its team. Dr. Scott Dotson holds a PhD in toxicology and risk assessment, and is a certified industrial hygienist (CIH). Dr. Dotson earned his PhD from the University of South Florida where his dissertation research investigated the exposures and risk associated with the servicing of asbestos-containing automotive parts, and his MS in occupational safety and health with an emphasis in industrial hygiene from Murray State University.

Prior to joining Cardno ChemRisk, Dr. Dotson spent over 10 years working at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). His research efforts and responsibilities were focused on evaluating occupational hazards and developing appropriate guidelines and scientific-decision making strategies used to establish NIOSH policies. As part of these efforts, he conducted hazard and risk characterizations of dermal exposures to chemicals, established workplace recommendations to protect workers from acute inhalation exposures, and investigated the integration of novel risk assessment methods into occupational health. Dr. Dotson is an officer of the American Industrial Hygiene Association Risk Committee and the Society for Risk Analysis Occupational Health and Safety Specialty Section.

Dr. Dotson has authored numerous publications throughout his career, including those focused on dermal risk assessment, setting occupational exposure limits and evaluating airborne asbestos exposures associated with automotive parts containing asbestos. You can view his CV herehere.
