Biography

Dr. Angela Perez is a Managing Health Scientist with over 13 years of experience applying exposure assessment methods and fate and transport modeling in areas of toxicology, environmental forensics, occupational health, and human health and ecological risk assessment. She has served as a testifying and consulting expert on cases pertaining to the potential risk associated with exposures to asbestos, metals, phthalates, benzene, carbon monoxide, antimicrobials (triclosan, triclocarban), poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (e.g., PFOA, PFOS), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). Her expertise also includes evaluating human health risk as a result of exposure to formaldehyde and toluene.

Dr. Perez’s focal areas include evaluating exposures through the manufacture, use and disposal of consumer products, and site-specific exposure and risk assessment. Dr. Perez has conducted field research in soils and in waters and has performed testing on numerous consumer products, such as toys, cosmetics, fabric/textiles, and heavy equipment. She is an expert in the assessment of exposure and human health risk associated with chemicals in soils, surface and ground waters, indoor dust, biota, and human serum. Dr. Perez has over 30 published articles and abstracts on the topics of asbestos, triclosan, metals, phthalates, volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), and decision analysis tools for chemical hazard prioritization. She is also published in the area of elemental and stable isotope ratio profiling of foods to verify country of origin – an emerging technique used to command accountability in the safety, production, and distribution of the global food supply.
