Biography

Dr. Andrew D. Monnot is a Senior Health Scientist with Cardno ChemRisk.  He completed his PhD in Toxicology from Purdue University.  His primary areas of expertise are metals toxicology and neurotoxicology.  Dr. Monnot’s graduate work focused on establishing a central nervous system (CNS) copper (Cu) regulatory pathway as well as a metabolic relationship between iron (Fe) status and Cu transport at the brain barriers.  During his doctoral work he was involved in several projects aimed at understanding the impact of lead (Pb) exposure on the clearance of β-amyloid from the blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier.  While at Purdue, Dr. Monnot was a collaborator in a cooperative research program entitled “Lead exposure and Alzheimer’s disease” between Purdue University and North China Coal Medical University.  Since joining Cardno ChemRisk (formerly ChemRisk, LLC), Dr. Monnot has performed research and provided technical support concerning exposure to diacetyl, tetrachloroethylene (PCE), cobalt, and chromium.  He has participated in designing exposure studies investigating the safety and efficacy of dietary supplements and has been involved in the development of a biokinetic model designed to estimate the blood concentrations of cobalt from ingestion data.
