Senior Health Scientist Denise Hill Participates in 61st Annual Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Institute Panel Discussion
The well-received discussion, Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid. Dealing with Public Perceptions of Risk in Oil & Gas Development, examined the various factors that create public fear, cause many in the public to oppose oil and gas development, and contribute to common misperceptions about what is truly risky in our lives. Further, the panel discussed whether the industry practice of providing more and more information to the public to assuage fear and demonstrate the benefits of development is still the best approach, and addressed possible alternatives including innovative approaches to community engagement.
